Answers to common questions that families have:

Schedule: You will get your class schedule the first day of school. Please do not worry that friends in other middle schools are getting theirs in the mail; ours are hand-scheduled.

Creative Start: Your advisor will confirm your choice for Creative Start (most of you have indicated your choices on forms you completed at the end of the year.) Please remember: only music Creative Start classes can share students (Band, Orchestra, Choir).  Digital and Visual Art students cannot take another concurrent Creative Start class; there is too much curriculum that would be missed.  Band and Orchestra are for students who already play an instrument (any further music questions will be directed to the instrumental music teachers, Greg Taylor and Megan Strucke.)

Math placement: Our math teachers decide placement based on a number of factors: test scores, 6th grade teacher information, indications made on Phoenix forms, IEP info, EPP info, recent individual testing, etc.  Your advisor will share your math class placement with you during your conference on August 18. If there are any questions or concerns at that time, we will certainly address them asap.

Bus Routes: Phoenix teachers do not have access to bus routes yet. We will have that information when it is published locally, just before school starts. Remember, bus riders in the morning are picked up and taken to their neighborhood HIGH SCHOOL (TWHS or WKHS). From there, a Phoenix shuttle will take them to school. During the first few days, Phoenix teachers will be at the high schools to help with the transition.  In the afternoon, bus routes will start at Phoenix at 4:30, and take students directly back to their neighborhoods.

Fall Sports:  The fastest way to get information about your neighborhood middle school sports team (football, cross-country, volleyball, etc.)  is to call McCord, Kilbourne, or Worthingway directly.  Unfortunately, at Phoenix, we do not always receive all pertinent sports team information in the summer as quickly as families may need it.
